Rice: Unconventional Wisdom
Office of Institutional Effectiveness

Welcome

The mission of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness is to collaborate with Rice University’s academic, administrative and educational support units to identify expected outcomes for educational programs, administrative and educational support services. The office works with units to achieve outcomes efforts that support student learning and align with institutional strategic goals and accreditation requirements. The evidence of these efforts informs decision-making regarding actions to be taken to ensure program and institutional effectiveness and enhancement.

The goal of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness is to assist units in the integration of the planning, evaluation and budgeting processes into a sustained, ongoing and comprehensive practice in all university activities. To ensure that the office impacts both academic and nonacademic units it reports to both the Provost and the Vice President for Finance. This also strengthens the linkage of outcomes assessments with resource allocation and planning at the university level.
